Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and this is the perfect opportunity to create some fun crafts to tell your friends and family members just how much you love them! This blog post includes an easy step-by-step tutorial for kids to make colorful Valentines using simple materials and a little creativity. Read below for instructions on how to make these cute cards, featured at a recent SAMLARC event, as you prepare for Valentine’s Day. You can also follow the steps through the photo gallery!
Construction paper, glue dots, ribbon, scissors, ink or stamp pads, assorted stamps and stickers for decoration, a fine-tip marker or sharpie.
Fold a piece of construction paper in half. It can be any color you choose, but white tends to be the best for the stamps to show up properly.
Use a strip of glue dots to cover the bottom edge of the card.
Unroll a length of ribbon that matches the bottom edge of the card and cut it to size. Stick the ribbon firmly to the glue dots to decorate the edge of your card.
Place your thumb on the ink or stamp pad of your choosing and stamp your thumbprint on the card in several places.
Now it’s time to use your marker. You can create little butterfly wings on each thumbprint along with smiley faces or other features to make your thumbprints into cute little bug friends! You can also use the marker to write a Valentine’s Day message on the front or inside of your card.
The last step is to use stamps or stickers to decorate any empty spaces on the card. Get creative and show your Valentine some love!
Don’t forget to sign your name inside.
