Board of Directors Meeting Highlights: January 21, 2020

The SAMLARC Board of Directors held their monthly meeting on the evening of January 21, 2020. The Open Session Agenda for the meeting and corresponding Open Session Board Agenda Reports can be found HERE.

The Board of Directors took action on the following items during the January 21, 2020 Open Session Meeting:

  • Recognized the Bridge Church for providing musical entertainment at the December 7, 2019 Christmas Tree Lighting event.

  • Recognized Santa Margarita Pop Warner football and cheer teams for their championship season accomplishments. The teams recognized included: the Tiny Mite Cowboys football team (5-7 years old); the Junior Varsity Cowboys football team (12-13 years old); the Mighty Mite Cheer Squad (7-9 years old); and the Junior Pee Wee Mustang Cheer Squad (8-10 years old).

  • Approved the adoption of the 2020 Architectural Standards and 2020 Policies & Guidelines. The documents are available now at Beginning the week of January 27, 2020, Members will also receive a postcard with instructions to view the documents online.

  • Declared on behalf of SAMLARC that Board Candidates Robert Dickson, Jeff Halbreich, and Judy Vasquez, who have been duly nominated and are qualified to have been elected, have been elected to the Board of Directors for the period of March 5, 2020 through the 2022 Election.

  • Approved the 2020 SAMLARC Annual Meeting agenda, which includes an overview of SAMLARC’s purpose, the annual State of SAMLARC Address, a fiscal report, Board initiatives in 2020, Delegate Workshop information, and a legislative update.

  • Approved a contract with Capisco Marketing Agency to provide digital marketing evaluation services, including recommendations for enhancing SAMLARC’s communications resources.

  • Following a recommendation by the Landscape and Facilities Enhancement Committee, approved design drawings for a future Altisima Office renovation. The drawings incorporate an open-concept design, which will convert the space into a gathering space for Members’ enjoyment and increase the community’s property values.

  • Approved a Board Policy to conduct an annual open recruitment for all non-Board committee member positions.

In addition, the Board approved all consent calendar items, including:

  • Appointment of SAMLARC Member Jeanette Horne as a member of the Architectural Review Committee.

  • A work authorization for replacement of dugout covers, screens, and backstop pads at various SAMLARC sportsfields.

  • A contract with Care Ambulance for dedicated services at major SAMLARC events throughout 2020.

  • Continuation of Gentle Yoga for the Rest of Us classes at the Lago Santa Margarita Beach Club.
