As online shopping transforms the way we view gift-giving, more people are choosing to have packages delivered directly to their homes. However, the recent rise in package thefts causes additional concern around the holiday season. The Community Associations Institute offers four simple tips to help keep packages safe:
Schedule deliveries for times when you will be home - particularly when purchasing expensive items.
Notify a relative or neighbor when you are expecting a package.
Install doorbell cameras or other security systems that may be able to provide evidence of package theft. Be sure to check your association's rules and regulations before installing.
Opt for package pick-up from a secure locker or pickup location owned by the delivery company.
