SAMLARC is guided by a seven-person, volunteer Board of Directors, who are elected on staggered terms by the SAMLARC Membership. Each Directors brings unique insights and professional experience to their volunteer work on the SAMLARC Board and associated Committees, maintaining and enhancing SAMLARC’s vision for a high-value and energetic community.
At an Emergency Executive Session Meeting of the Board held on December 2, 2020, President Robert Dickson tendered his resignation from the Board in order to deepen his involvement with family and professional life. President Dickson served on the Board from February 2016 through December 2020 and held the title of Board President from October 2016 through his resignation. The Board appreciates Director Dickson’s contributions during his tenure, which included close communications with the City of Rancho Santa Margarita and Chamber of Commerce, as well as and his partnership with SAMLARC’s Management Company, FirstService Residential; the enhancement of SAMLARC’s lifestyle programming including the beloved Screen on the Green events, Children’s Tea Parties and this year’s Holiday Stroll ‘Round the Lake; and his dedication to many SAMLARC Committees – particularly the Executive Committee Related to COVID-19. The Board wishes President Dickson continued success.
Following Director Dickson’s resignation at the December 2 meeting, the Board appointed Director Judy Vasquez to serve as President and Director Jeff Halbreich to serve as Vice President until the Board reorganizes in March 2021. To fill the vacancy, the Board also appointed Michael May, Board of Directors Election Candidate, to complete the remainder of Director Dickson’s term through the 2022 Election. Candidate May’s professional insight as a realtor, his involvement in youth sports, and his dedication to building a strong community through collaboration will enrich his service as a SAMLARC Director at Large.
Prior to accepting his appointment to the Board, Candidate May rescinded his candidacy from the 2021 Election. His withdrawal from the Election left four candidates available for the four (4) Director positions coming to term end in February 2021. As the number of candidates and number of positions coincide, the Board is anticipated to enact California Corporation Code 7522(d) and elect the existing candidates to serve on the Board from February 25, 2021 through the 2023 Election. This declaration will be considered at the January 26, 2021 Board of Directors Meeting. The Board will establish Cabinet positions and Committee involvement at the April 2021 Board of Directors Meeting.
