SAMLARC opened its Pools on June 13, 2020 thanks to the long-awaited County Health Agency’s order. Since that time, hundreds of SAMLARC Members have been able to enjoy both lap and recreational swimming. As the County navigates through the state-wide Road to Resilience, the Board of Directors hopes to continue broadening access in a manner that supports the enjoyment of SAMLARC facilities, while maintaining social distancing.
In order to monitor pool capacity, the Pools have been operating under a reservation system. On July 6, 2020, a streamlined system will launch that simplifies Members’ pool usage – a live occupancy counter. This occupancy counter displays real-time capacity at each pool as visitors enter and exit, allowing Members to determine when they wish to visit the facility. The maximum capacity at each pool is 50% at any given time.
Additionally, the Board Executive Committee has evaluated community usage and has adjusted the pool schedule. Beginning July 1, 2020 the following schedule has been implemented:
Lap Swim: 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM. Additional lap swim hours at Monte Vista and Altisima Pools from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
Recreational Swim: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Additional recreational swim hours at Solana and Arroyo Vista Pools from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
This schedule allows SAMLARC families to enjoy swimming after the traditional workday, while still providing lap swimmers with the opportunity for evening exercise.
In order to continue supporting social distancing and sanitation protocols, as outlined by the County and State, pool operations have also been modified. Please click HERE to read the COVID-19 SAMLARC Aquatic Facility rules, which are to be observed in addition to the standard Pool/Lagoon rules.
The Board understands that the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing government intervention has impacted the normal summer traditions that many SAMLARC Members enjoy. The Board is closely monitoring developments from the government to provide as much access to the SAMLARC facilities as is feasible, safe, and permitted. Thank you for your partnership and flexibility as we travel California’s Resilience Roadmap together.
