Silverado Fire - 10/26/20 at 11:30 a.m.

The Orange County Fire Authority is battling a vegetation in the Santiago/Silverado Canyon area which began at 6:47 a.m. on Monday, 10/26/2020. Rancho Santa Margarita is not currently at risk of fire spread; however, community members should exercise caution as weather conditions change.

As of 11:45 a.m. (10/26/20), the impacts to Rancho Santa Margarita include the following measures:

  • Air quality may be compromised. The Environmental Protection Agency offers strategies for managing smoke-related air quality in your home and outdoors.

  • To assist in fire abatement, Caltrans (California Department of Transportation) has closed the northbound 241 onramps at Antonio Parkway in addition to closures at Portola.

  • Southern California Edison has marked portions of Melinda Heights, Dove Canyon/Robinson Ranch, and Trabuco Canyon as areas under consideration for Public Safety Power Shutoff (proactive and temporary elimination of power to prevent the electric
